At 99active, we visited Denise at her shop in Leipzig-Gohlis. We love how she has turned her love of Denmark into a cozy place for creative breaks, good conversations and new connections.

A little Denmark and a lot of Leipzig

Denise could already picture her shop sign. Before she had a shop of her own, there was a place in central Leipzig where she imagined unlocking the door, welcoming people and creating something of her own.

She tried several things along the way. She studied cultural studies, worked as a waitress and managed the product range for an online shop, choosing what it would offer. Bringing people together was somehow always part of it. So was Leipzig. Denise was born here, left and returned more than once.

Now she especially likes the quieter corners of Gohlis. That’s where her dream found a home in Hygge Concept Store. Her love of Denmark is right there in the name.

For Denise, hygge is more than cosiness. It’s a positive outlook and the art of enjoying small things with care. Candles, light colours, wood, a blanket or good pastries can all help create a hyggelig atmosphere.

The feeling starts as soon as you walk in. You can browse at your own pace, look around and enjoy the lovely things. Maybe a conversation begins, or a new idea takes shape. Denise is open to that and is glad when you discover her shop in your own time.

She likes creative get-togethers to feel personal, too. For her, four or five people around one table make a lovely group. You can see what everyone is making, start talking and get to know one another.

Workshops might include painting glass together. At creative meetups, you can bring your own ideas to life, such as making beaded bracelets. Drinks and Danish snacks are part of both formats. Hygge goes through the stomach, too.

Whether you’re still discovering Leipzig or have known the city for years, Denise welcomes you. Her cozy shop in Gohlis invites you to browse, and her small creative meetups bring people together around the table. Step inside and see where the conversation leads.
