When you discover a Moment on 99active, we want you to see more than an offer. We want you to meet the person behind it, understand what drives them and feel why you will be in good hands. That is why our team visits hosts in person, listens and gets to know their stories.

For this article, Johanne met Katrin Rudloff at her Kassia Tanz studio in Leipzig. Katrin hosts dance classes, dance afternoons and themed evenings. She also opens her special space to fellow hosts and their ideas, from yoga and playful movement for children to formats that have yet to be invented. Meet Kassia Tanz on 99active.

The warmth and character of this place begin with the woman who shapes it. This is Katrin’s story.

Katrin Rudloff has been self-employed since 2004, and over the years she has found her own way of accompanying people through dance, movement and relaxation. What began with her love of dancing has grown into something much broader: Kassia Tanz is about joy, body awareness, connection and giving yourself the care you deserve.

From a first dance step to her own studio

After completing two professional training programmes and a degree, Katrin’s everyday life changed when her second daughter was born. Many of the sports she had previously enjoyed no longer fitted into her new life. Then a recommendation introduced her to oriental dance, opening an entirely new chapter.

At first, Katrin taught as a freelance dance teacher in different studios. Running her own studio was never really the plan. But some of the most important things in life arrive unexpectedly: between 2017 and 2024, a friend gave her the opportunity to run a studio together. When that friend moved into a new professional direction, Katrin stayed and continued developing Kassia Tanz in her own way.

Over the years, she added many further qualifications, workshops and areas of experience. Katrin has always stayed curious: she enjoys trying new things, learning and bringing different perspectives together. Alongside dance, her experience now includes muscle relaxation, movement play for children, workplace yoga and hormone yoga.

What still fascinates Katrin about dance? The joy at its heart. She describes herself as someone who used to spend a lot of time in her head. For her, dancing is a way to switch off the noise, breathe, feel and reconnect with the body. It also creates a connection with yourself and with other people.

One belief is especially important to Katrin: everyone can dance.

It does not have to be a traditional dance style. Kassia Tanz brings together oriental, Persian and Armenian dance, modern elements and fusion forms. That variety is what makes the work so rich. Music and dance carry stories and lived experience through time. Dancing lets people encounter those stories not only intellectually, but physically and emotionally. It creates a unique way into other cultures. And the experience does not stop at dance: people sew costumes, cook together and create cultural evenings with food, music and dance. These encounters reach far beyond a single class and become a full experience.

What Kassia Tanz wants people to take with them

Above all, Katrin wants to share joy. It is about enjoying movement, but also about personal growth, self-acceptance, body awareness and learning to experience your body more consciously again.

Her classes make room for people to arrive as themselves. Katrin does not simply follow a fixed formula; she pays attention to what the people in front of her need in that moment. Breath, movement, relaxation and consciously feeling the body all play an important role. Her broad experience in dance, education and medical knowledge comes together here. A class does not have to be planned down to the last detail. Experience, knowledge, intuition and the ability to respond to the people in the room matter more.

One observation has stayed with Katrin throughout her work: many women are deeply critical of themselves and their bodies. Images of supposed ideals are everywhere, and it is easy to start feeling that you are not beautiful enough, slim enough or simply enough.

Katrin wants to offer another perspective. Through humour, movement and conscious body awareness, she invites people to experience their own bodies again and develop a deeper appreciation for themselves. For her, self-love is not a surface-level slogan, but an important part of personal growth. And nobody has to take that journey alone.

Taking the first step

For anyone who has been thinking about trying a class but has not quite dared yet, Katrin has a clear message: everyone is welcome.

You do not have to wait until you feel perfectly prepared, or until someone else takes the first step. If you feel the desire to try something new or do something good for yourself, you are allowed to follow that impulse. Kassia Tanz offers an open, beautiful atmosphere where different starting points belong. You do not need to know how to dance. You do not need to fit a certain body image. And you do not have to prove anything. The invitation is simply to let yourself move, stay curious and perhaps discover a side of yourself that does not get enough space in everyday life.

Her message is especially for women who feel they would like to do something kind for themselves: if you feel the impulse to try something, you are allowed to follow it. Step out of your routine. Move. Breathe. Laugh. Feel. And perhaps discover your own beauty in a completely new way.

The Kassia Tanz studio in Leipzig is open to dance, workshops and connection

Katrin shows what makes a special 99active host. She shares what she loves, creates a place where people feel welcome and stays curious about other people’s ideas. That is why we wanted to introduce Katrin as a person, not simply show her studio.

Feel like joining in? Katrin’s beautiful dance classes, joyful dance afternoons and special evenings are waiting to be experienced together. And if you bring a wild idea of your own, Katrin would rather explore it with curiosity than dismiss it. Author's Note

Written by Johanne Marie Alexander for 99active from Leipzig.

When I visited Katrin, one thing became clear very quickly: Kassia Tanz is much more than a beautiful room. Behind it is someone who listens closely, encourages others and genuinely enjoys new ideas. That is what I want to make visible through 99active.

Maybe you lead a dance class, cook a family recipe, share a craft, know the edible plants in Leipzig's riverside forest or have an idea that has never existed before. I do not want to meet you through email alone. I want to visit, listen and introduce the person behind your Moment. Write to me at Johanne.Alexander@99active.com. I would love to meet you.
